The Lost 40: The result of a mapping error in 1882, the Lost 40 is actually 144 acres of towering pines untouched by logging.  This self-guided 1 mile hike is unforgettable.  Click TIMBER for more info.

Scenic State Park: There’s 14 miles of hiking trails and the favorite “Chase Point Trail” is sandwiched between two lakes making for a spectacular view. Also there’s 3 miles of groomed ski trails and snowshoe trails to! Click SCENIC for more info.

The Joyce Estate:  As you walk through the Joyce Estate grounds, imagine the roaring twenties, the time of prohibition and women’s suffrage.  Imagine how unusual it was in its day, an isolated 4,500 acre resort with 40 buildings including its own golf course, private telephone line and airplane hanger.   Heir to the Joyce Family fortune originating in part from lumber taken from northern Minnesota via the Itasca Lumber Company, David Joyce of Chicago built the estate from 1917-1935 an it was  used by the Joyce Family until 1972.  This site is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
