Rain or Shine

At JTH Resort we love to see kids enjoying nature.  There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a fish tugging on your line, lazy days at the beach and being amazed by wildlife in its natural habitat. While we’ve enjoyed some absolutely perfect days this summer at the lake we’ve also experienced plenty of rain showers like the rest of Minnesota . But if you’re a resourceful vacationer, there are lots of ways to have just as much fun when it rains!

At the top of our list is driving to Marcell for ice cream and wandering through Frontier Sports. There’s plenty of ice cream options from fruit smoothies to coffee shakes to Razzles (a.k.a Blizzards), unique Minnesota gifts and a wide selection of new and classic lures with staff that are happy to talk about fishing for as long as you like.

Take the kids to the Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center in Marcell for free nature programs & crafts or if the weather clears up check out the Marcell Park. There’s a meandering paved walking trail, playground, tennis & basketball court and baseball field.

If you’d rather soak up as much of your vacation as possible at JTH Resort, stop in at our office and borrow a variety of family games, books, DVDs, and connect to wifi. Remember, if you bring your rain gear you can do almost anything in the rain that you can do in the sun provided there’s no danger of lightening. So go ahead and take out the paddle boat, canoe, kayaks or catch those fiesty fish! The last time we biked in the rain was the one and only time seeing a Timberwolf up close as it sauntered by the creek at Jack The Horse Lake!
